David A. Hoffman teaches courses on mediation, collaborative law, legal ethics, and diversity at Harvard Law School, where is the John H. Watson, Jr. Lecturer on Law. He is also the founding member of Boston Law Collaborative, LLC, where he serves as an arbitrator, mediator, negotiator, and Collaborative Law attorney. He is also an instructor at the PON, Program on Negotiation, a consortium between Harvard, the MIT and Tuft University.
The conference is fully translated simultanously in French and English.
After the International Symposium on Unifying Collaborative Law in Europe, held in Monaco last November, David and Ad Augusta have extended their partnership, to bring to european professionals the standard of excellency in teaching Dispute Resolution from this Harvard Lecturer. This conference will be followed by trainings, both certified by David Hoffman, Lecturer on Law at Harvard Law School and Instructor at the Program on Negotiation.
Program
This full-day program will provide an overview of developments in the major areas of alternative dispute resolution.
Negotiation: Recent developments in the psychology of negotiation have provided new tools for understanding how to overcome the cognitive barriers and emotional elements that complicate the task of negotiation.
Mediation: Video technologies have broadened the availability of mediation globally, while greater awareness of diversity, equity, and inclusion issues in mediation has provided new tools for fostering understand and reaching agreement.
Arbitration: While arbitration has begun to look more and more like litigation, experienced arbitrators using creating methods of streamlining arbitration and making it more efficient.
Collaborative Law: Although the advent of collaborative lawyering came from the area of family law, it is now broadening its scope to other areas of legal practice, where it will prove to be just as useful.
Our Speaker David A. Hoffman Esq.
David is past chair of the ABA Section of Dispute Resolution, and currently co-chairs the Ethics Subcommittee of the Section’s Collaborative Law Committee. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the International Academy of Mediators. He has received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the American College of Civil Trial Mediators, and the ABA Section of Dispute Resolution gave him its D’Alemberte-Raven Award, the Section’s highest honor.
David is listed in the book “The Best Lawyers in America” in five categories (Mediation, Arbitration, Collaborative Law – Civil, Collaborative Law – Family, and Family Law Mediation), including Boston’s Lawyer of the Year for 2022 in the field of Arbitration. He has been listed in Boston’s Super Lawyers Directory each year since the listing began. And he is listed in Boston Magazine’s Top Lawyers for 2022.
